Information Governance

Information Governance - the safety, security and confidentiality of your personal data

Healthcare professionals who provide you with care are required by law to maintain records about your health and any treatment or care you have received within any NHS organisation.  These records help to provide you with the best possible healthcare.

NHS health records may be processed electronically, on paper or a mixture of both, and through established working procedures and best practice coupled with technology we ensure your personal data is kept confidential and secure. Your records are backed up securely in line with NHS standard procedures.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018

This EU data protection regulation became law on 25th May 2018.  This replaced the old data protection laws of the 1990's which were not designed for the wealth of data and data-sharing of the modern digital age.  It increases protection for the individual related to the collection and processing of their personal data and will also provide a new data opt-out system.  To see what data we collect, how we use it and under what circumstances we share it, please see our Privacy Notice.
